Our Time 1998

A t IMSA, with the variety of cultural clubs, many cultural presentations happened through– out the year. The ma in events, Diwali, Kwanzaa, and Lunar New Year proved to be very educational for all. Diwali, which was sponsored by the Asian Cultures Club, occurred further near the beginning of the year. With this presen– tation, the Indian community of IMSA gave people of other cultures a chance to share with them a time of worship and celebration. Inviting a priest from the nearby temple to say a prayer for the festivities, ACC put a lot of effort into making this celebration a success. "I was in a dance for Diwali and it was really kfun," said junior Rita Wang. Lunar New Year was also sponsored by the ACC and also turned out to be great. Several dances were performed, both traditional and non-traditional. A skit written by junior Emily Wu also informed students of what the Asian spirit was all about. ^Kwanzaa, sponsored by the AASA, was also an enjoyable event. It too gave students a chance to be exposed to the customs of other cultures. Cultural presentations this year helped greatly to enhance students' experiences at IMSA.
