T k e P a s s i o m l o r A < c a c l e n u n c ! r his year was RC Gnanika Suriarachchi's fourth year as coach of the Scholastic Bowl. The team was very strong this year. The co-captains this :ar were seniors Mark Ciaccio and Charley Ding. They d the team of eighteen students (six from each class) in eir pursuit of victory. Working hard to practice twice a eek from October to May, the team won their first two urnaments and looked forward to their third year as state lampions. Meanwhile, Model UN also faired well. With RC rian Quinby as the sponsor, this year, there were three ssions of Congress and UN simulations which IMSA adents attended. First came the Model United Nations Chicago. Several students went and had a lot of fun representing their country. Next was Harvard Model Congress in Boston. Students stayed at the Park Plaza Hotel and were able to visit and attend classes at Harvard and MIT. Lastly, the Model UN in New York City was also very fun. Students roamed the streets of the city that was so famous for its night life. Finally, Metro History Fair and Discussion Classics also were great activities to participate in. Many students designed projects such as essays and multimedia to com– pete in the history fair. Meanwhile, students discussed powerful short stories in Discussion Classics, which met once a week with English teacher Michael Casey as the sponsor.
