T H E S Q U A D T he 1997-98 Dance Squad once again thrilled the crowds at home basketball fames with their creative pom tosses, unique moves, and high jumps. Among the many new members of the squad included IMSA's very first male dancer, Ross Cornell, to tryout and make the squad. This new direction revolution– ized the character of the Titan Dance Squad, adding another dimension to their routines. Senior Co-Captain, Soumiya Prakasam, commented ont he ups and downs of the season. "The season started off great, with all the new members, but our number of dancers dwindled due to illnesses. Despite rough times, we have raised our energy, so we can win the next competition." Among their goals as a team and as co- captains, Prakasam and Jenna Colby hoped to qualify for the state competi– tion—and, by the end of the year, the team's picture, printed in the local newspaper hung proudly on the Admis– sions Office door, proclaiming their triumph. News of the Dance Squad's 1st place win at state rushed through cam– pus within a few short hours, and by the end of the afternoon, all of IMSA was celebrating this well-earned success. Dance Squad possessed a maximum of potential, with its new legs and qualified senior leadership. With all their hard work, practicing that toe-touch just one more time or hitting the routine again, the Dance Squad grew as a team. They enhanced their already impressive reputation by aweing Titan fans on a regular basis.
