M e n m T k f t k s A powerful kick of a well- muscled leg, the thrusting fist driven by the oiled pinions of a shoulder, and any aerodynamic qualities of inherent to a smoothly shaven head served to propel the virile, young men of the IMSA Boys' Swimmi ng and Diving Team not towards victory, but in– stead, towards dignity and accom– plishment. These fine fellows may have won little, but they sure worked hard and put in all the extra effort that they needed to maintain the respect accorded to them as sports– men. Senior Matt Mowers, one of this year's three team captains, was willing to put the year into perspec– tive. "It was disappointing that none of our top three swimmme rs finished this year. At the end of the year, the team consisted of only seven swim– mers and two divers. "I must say, though, that I was really proud of the guys who stayed around and of how they performed. 1 think we did about as well as we could with only seven guys. I think we had about five wins and only nine losses. That's pretty good consider– ing sometimes the other team had three or more times as many people as we did." Even though the young men of the swim team worked hard and struggled to keep their team up to snuff, boys will be boys and these boys had their idea of fun. "Some practices, we spend the last half hour just mooning each other," said Junior Brian Fatka. Snorts \163 (
