F A S T T I M E S . . . M embers of the Titan Cross Country Team shared more than a passion for running. These athletes did everything together, from eating pasta dinners before meets, to holding celebratory cookouts. "This year, we had a much stronger team unity than we've had ever since I've been here," Senior Andy Torres observed. This solid bond not only helped the team's performance during meets, but it also existed off the course, where team– mates would gather for social activities. Their enjoy– able endeavors served as relaxing breaks from their arduous practices. The adventurous climax of these events was a camping trip held at the end of the season, where members stayed at a cabin in Oregon. The skilled coaches, Brett Carlson and Rhonda Litt, were partly responsible for Cross Country's easygoing atmosphere. However, that did not imply that they didn't push the team to its limits. They managed to enter the Titans in a meet in Wisconsin, which included a particularly intimidating course of steep hills and rough terrain. These obstacles hardly affected the athletes' resolve, though. And afterwards, true to their fun-loving spirits, the team indulged in a water balloon fight, pitting the boys against the girls. The Cross Country Team persevered until Regionals, where Pat Lambe and Andy Torres both qualified for sectionals. Devoted supporters also played a large role in the team's success. "Pat's dad was really loyal to the team he came to almost every meet," recalled Junior Sami Shaddle fondly.
