Though they did not win every single game they played, the girls on the team worked hard and were happy just to be having fun. They displayed their appreciation for the team in their practices, shouting to each other to call the ball and working with the other team membe rs to enhance the skills of the entire team. Practice everyday involved a multitude of drills to improve their technique. Even with so much practice, the team still had time to have fun and just bond with each other. One of the highlights of the season was going to the McLa r en house to see the coach's newborn baby. When practicing, however, the players agree that their work paid off. There were two team members who be– came part of the all-conference team: Seniors Courtney Williams and Stacey Rose. The girls also stressed the importance of keeping the right attitude in playing the game. "I think it was good that we had a good attitude throughout the season even though we didn't win too much ," states Senior Courtney Meyers. This statement probably does best to sum up the girls' perspective of the 1997 volleyball season. As the girls stated together, each of the membe rs were there because they wanted to b e - there were no girls playing with a grudge. Though the team did not win many games, the members were winners just for working hard, staying dedicated and keeping the right attitude. ysjQ Sport*
