Gallimaufry 1993
A c a d e m y A w a r d W i n n e r s On June 5, 1993, the Big Picture that the Class of 1993 has been creating for the last three years will officially draw to a close. Where it ends, there will be many more new ones only beginning as we go our separate ways, taking with us what we have learned to go out into the world and find a place for ourselves. Even though we are leaving, the Big Picture that we have created here is something that we will never completely let go of. Just like an old favorite movie that you pull out to watch on your VCR from time to time, so we will pull out our memories, and return to the days when this Picture was only premiering. The Big Picture that the Class of 1993 has created for IMSA is one of the most diverse that this community has ever known. It all began on August 27, 1990, when 252 eager Sophomores arrived in Aurora, ready to change and be changed. That's just what we did. From the bonding in the Ghetto and the beginning of study hours to Prom '93 and our own Senior Recognition Day, life at IMSA will never be the same. Our own lives will never be the same, either. We have heard it said so many times that the friendships that you make while at IMSA are deeper and more permanent than those that you will find anywhere else. We have discovered this for ourselves over these last three years: who can be closer to you than those who spent the most transitional years, the hardest, saddest, sweetest and happiest years, right along side of you, living each and every day with you, until you were all a part of each other? We grew up together, and those eager Sophomores are now older, wiser and moving with great confidence toward the world waiting our arrival. We cannot say right now whether it will be better or worse in the years to come, all we know for sure is that it will be different. When times get rough, and we don't know where to turn, we will always be able to pull out the old movie that is our IMSA experience. Though we may lose touch over the years, the times that we have had can never be taken away from us. Looking back, there have been hard times, times when we didn't think we would ever make it through. But we did, and now as we stand looking out over the final scenes of our Big Picture, we realize that it all was worth it, and that it all worked out for the best in the end. It is the end, officially. Yet in our hearts and through the friendships that we will keep alive, it will never be truly over. We will never forget, and we will never be forgotten. We will take our experiences and add to them, open up our lives to new people and places, just as we did three years ago. And in that respect, IMSA and the Class of '93 will be a part of each of us forever. -Janet Hodur Seniors
