C h a r i o t s o f F i r e What group of people can run, jump, leap tall buildings in a single bound, and do the integral of an inverse trigonometric function? Who you ask? The IMSA track and field team can do all! There was a strong interest displayed by a multi– tude of spritey sophomores who brought much enthusiasm and talent to the team. The juniors and seniors with their experience and leadership provided for a well-rounded track team. The team has braved through horrendous weather conditions from everything to rain, snow, and sleet, to the blistering sun. It was not rare to IMSA's Boys' Track team find the entire track team shivering under the bleachers taking shelter from the weather before stripping down to those famous Columbian blue ultra-short shorts for an event. But through it all, they exhibited much strength in all areas with a victorious sprint team, long-distance team, and weight team. The IMSA track team even sent junior, Karen Rakers, down to state in the long j ump competition after qualifying with a second place finish at sectionals. The IMSA track team will have many promising athletes returning next year to show everyone that they really can do anything! IMSA's Girls' Track team right: Melanie Funk focuses on getting that other foot off of the ground. | ] S p o r t s
