C h e e r l e a d i n g & D a n c e This year's Cheerleading and Dance squads were seriously "fired up." Their student-choreo– graphed performances were exciting and fascinating, winning applause from not only the crowd, but other squads as well. The cheerleaders incorporated more mounts and basket tosses in this year's programs than any other year. Dance squad prepared longer and more technical routines that entertained fans during half-time and pep assemblies. The two groups were an integral part of school spirit this year, inspring cheers from the crowds and keeping the players going through the rough spots of games when encouragement was really needed. The squads were responsible for the Secret Spirit signs that encouraged both boys' and girls' basketball players on crucial game days. The amount of work that these women put in to make these routines look so easy and graceful was astounding. Both cheerleading and dance squad spent many hours each week rehearsing new programs and pushing themselves to new heights. Almost every evening in the girls' dorms you could hear the sounds of dancers practicing or choreograph– ing new routines on the bridge. This year's Cheerleading and Dance squads have proven themselves to be tough, smart, and most impor– tantly, a great piece of the Big Picture. Above: Jump, jumplKerriLockhart jumps for joy.
