G i r l s ' B a s k e t b a l l In a trophy case full of soccer, tennis, and boys' basketball trophies you may never have seen one for Girls' Basketball, and for a good reason- until this year, there weren't any. The girl's team won the Elgin Tournament this year and garnered the first IMSA Girls' Basketball plaque ever. According to Karen Rakers, Debbie Linksvayer and Vickie Nopachai, the season "started off slow," but everyone has "made consistent progress since last year," and "Next year. . Watch out!!!" What makes them such a strong force? The women say it is because they are a balanced, versatile team both on and off the court. If you ask about coaching you just might get blown away by the enthusiasm. When asked about the Varsity coach, R.C. Keith Mcintosh, a resounding "Keith is AWESOME" in unison expressed the feelings of the team. Coach Mcintosh should also be cautious, because according to Karen Rakers, "If he doesn't come back to coach next year, we'll GET HIM!!!" Considering the enthusiasm and mutual support of the pre– dominantly Junior team, no one will be surprised if they charge through next season and fill their own section of the trophy case.
