' D a S o c c e r T i t a n s Q: Superfan Greg Kaiser, my first question must be: Why Shane McCormick? A: Well basically, because he dared me. He invited me to come cheer him on—he just didn't think I'd come with a banner. Q: When did your admiration spread to the rest of the team? A: I began to realize that Shane couldn't do it alone. I saw the need to boost everyone's morale. I understood that my cheering alone could save the season. Q: And did you see improvement? A: As individuals molded and melted into one unit, forgetting selfish pursuits and thinking only of the team's goals, their standards of playing and the subsequent enjoyment of the fans skyrocketed. The epitome of their improvement was seen in the game in which they beat East Aurora. Q: Coach Mike DeHaven has said that the most exciting part of the season was watching the players learn from Coach George Wendel and look up to him. Do you have anything to say about George? A: He was there. Q: That's it? A: I didn't get so pitiful as to go to practices too, so I didn't see him that much. I mean, what was I going to do: Go Shane, run that lap? Q: What do you see for the future? A: Well this season, they played and won and lost, losing more often than winning, but it was fun. They're losing a lot of good seniors, but I saw a lot of promise in this year's sophomores. I predict that Shane will be captain and become an excellent player—if he doesn't fake another hurt ankle or whatever. Q: Anything on your notoriety? A: Ah yes. I predict that next year I will get a life and not follow the team around. Sorry guys. Below: Superfan Greg Kaiser added much needed pep to every game. Above: Richard Hermes and Alex Heidbreder enjoy a well- deserved water break. Sophomore team: Back row- Coach B. Gutzweiler, C. Kane, D. Bernotas, N. Stickels, R. Singh, V. Bashkaran, J.
