T h e R i g h t S t u f f What do you do when you are stuck between academics and sports? Go for some of IMSA's more unusual clubs: Fencing, Gamers, Astronomy, Juggling or Table Tennis. While these groups may not be out to set any world records, the participants manage to have record-setting fun. IMSA Gamers got their five minutes of fame this year when they hosted an all-day Saturday Gamers convention. Gamers could play Dungeons & Dragons, Battletech, listen to the finest in recent heavy metal, and meet lots of interesting people. Though many off-campus people got lost between the convention and a simultaneous Amnesty concert, everyone left with memories of a fun and entertaining day. The As– tronomy Club was not able to host an impressive convention this year, but despite often cloudy skies, they did learn an impressive amount about the world beyond the Milky Way. The Juggling Club sent Tony Rippey onto Talent Show fame, and enjoyed their balancing acts the rest of the year. The Table Tennis Club had a standing monopoly in the Student Union, especially when the tournament bounced around. Ellen Roh bravely challenged fellow junior Jack Wilson andproceeded to beat the pants off of him. Perhaps we will never know the whole story. The Fencing Team played what seemed like millions of matches against neighboring schools and one military academy in Indiana. They also took several trips to Wisconsin and were either holding their own against well-established teams or counting the cows. They had their grand finale in Waukesha, Wisconsin when they com– peted in the midwest high school competition. They managed to make a good showing by placing ninth out of an intimidating thirteen teamsfrom all over the Midwest.
